Fort Dodge, Iowa teens arrested in vehicle break-ins

(FORT DODGE, Iowa)  Two juveniles accused of breaking into at least one vehicle, and stealing a shot-gun,  were taken into custody in Fort Dodge Sunday, January 7th.

Police say they got a call from a witness Sunday afternoon, about suspicious activity, in the 2000 block of 5th Avenue North in Fort Dodge.

Officers arrived and found two teen males, and a shotgun nearby, as well as a handgun.  The teens, both age 15, have been charged with Third Degree Burglary, Attempted Burglary, and Carrying Weapons.

They've been taken to the Central Iowa Detention Center in Eldora, Iowa, to await juvenile court proceedings.

Fort Dodge Police say the case was a great example of a citizen reporting something suspicious, and as a result two weapons were able to be secured and taken off the streets, before falling into the wrong hands.
