Member of ISU womens basketball program resigns

(AMES, Iowa)    An Iowa State University womens basketball coach has resigned after, sending a private Twitter message to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School basketball player Rhett Darland, criticizing his new single game scoring record.   The message included an expletive and made accusations against the player. 

Adam Urness was the ISU women’s player development coordinator. 

Thursday,  our news partner Channel 13, WHO-TV reported Urness said he had apologized to Darland and the student’s family.  His resignation was announced Friday.

ISU head womens basketball coach Bill Fennelly issued a statement, " Iowa State Coordinator of Player Development Adam Urness tendered his resignation this afternoon after practice and I have accepted his resignation."
