DES MOINES, IOWA - Iowa threw a blizzard Monday and all we got was rain.

The blizzard that missed the Des Moines area yesterday dumped heavy snow in northwest Iowa.  12 inches of snow was measured near the Estherville area, and 18 inches was reported just north of Sioux City.

It rained in Des Moines Monday, although overnight there was a thin layer of snow by Tuesday morning, leading to some icyareas especially on secondary streets.

After this morning, it looks like we can put down the shovel for a while.

"This is really about it."  National Weather Service Meteorlogist Rod Donovan tells WHO Radio News.

"It looks pretty quiet over the next week to ten days, really quiet for the rest of January."  He says.
