Race for Iowa Ag Secretary getting more crowded

Another Iowa Ag Secretary candidate says he plans to run for the office.  Chad Ingles is a Fayette County farmer, formerly with Iowa State University Ag Extension.  Ingles made the announcement today (Wednesday) during the Iowa Pork Congress event, underway in Des Moines.

"I think there's room for livestock operations of all sizes, and growing those operations,"  Ingles told the Big Show on WHO Radio.

Ingles also says he'd to see additional support for expanding the use of cover-crops, as well as expanding access to farmer's markets.

Two other Republicans already have announced they're running.   Ray Gaesser  a Corning farmer and past president of the American Soybean Association, and Craig Lang, a former president of the Iowa Farm Bureau.    Pat Grassley, the grandson of U.S. Senator Charles Grassley says he will run for re-election in the Iowa House, ending speculation that he's interested in the top Ag job.

No democrats have announced intentions to run for the job at this time.
