Kim Jong Un Wants A Peace Treaty From President Trump

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reportedly wants a peace treaty as a result of his upcoming meeting with President Trump.

Kim is likely to raise the possibility of a peace treaty, along with establishing diplomatic relations and nuclear disarmament, during a meeting with the U.S. leader, the Dong-A Ilbo newspaper said Monday, citing an unidentified senior official in South Korea’s presidential office. Trump last week agreed to meet Kim, although key details of the summit have yet to be decided.

Koh Yu-hwan, who teaches North Korean studies at Dongguk University in Seoul, said the regime has long sought a peace treaty to end the more than 60-year-old ceasefire between the two sides and help guarantee its safety.

On one hand, you can believe that the man who wrote, "The Art Of The Deal" is going to relish participating in these type of high-stakes negotiation.  On the other hand, can you trust the leader of a brutal regime AT ALL?

I've taken classes on negotiation.  Here's a good outline of the rules of negotiation.

But these rules don't include what, in my mind, is one of the key points to keep in mind:  a negotiator MUST be willing to walk away.

President Trump must keep that in mind when negotiating with Kim Jong Un.
