New Iowa license plates arriving soon

(AMES, Iowa)  New license plates are rolling off the production line at Iowa Prison Industries in Anamosa.  The Iowa DOT expects the new plates to start arriving to county treasurer's offices within the next few weeks.

Iowans voted on the new design last year, on-line and during the Iowa State Fair.    The new plates will be phased in over 10-years.   The plates will be issued when vehicle owners add or change vehicles, or replace lost, stolen, or damaged plates.

Vehicle owners  can buy a set sooner from their county treasurer's office for $5.

The City and Country Reboot design won the public vote last year with 113,299 of the poll’s 291,095 total votes. The Flying Our Colors design came in second with 110,352 votes.    The Great Wide Open design tallied 67,444 votes.
