AVON LAKE, Iowa - A car found submerged in a Polk County lake Friday turns out to have been stolen in Warren County.
Mysterious tire tracks on the beach on the edge of Avon Lake led the people who live on the property to call police.
After a dive team and boat search, a white Dodge Charger was pulled out of the lake, and residents Sharon Hill and Larry Watkins say there were some tense moments when detectives opened the trunk.
"That was the scary part. We were really, really glad there was nobody inside, the trunk was empty." Said Hill.

No suspects have been named in the case. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
