Diesel Fuel prices on the rise

The price of diesel fuel in Iowa ended the week at $3.02, up $.03 per gallon.  National diesel prices also rose $.03, closing at $3.07 per gallon.Crude Oil.  The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.34 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $67.40.  Brent crude oil fell $.71 and is currently priced at $72.91.  One year ago WTI crude sold for $47.66 and Brent crude was at $49.31.  As of Tuesday, May 1st, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.69 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is up $.04 from last week and $.38 higher than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $2.81, up $.03 from last week’s price.  Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose $.03 from last week’s price with a statewide average of $3.02.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.49 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel price is $.05 less than the national average of $3.07.
