Des Moines man sentenced to 29-years for drugs, weapons

DES MOINES, Iowa--  A Des Moines man's been sentenced in federal court to 29-years in prison, for drug and weapons charges.

Thirty-two-year-old Solomon Currie pleaded guilty to charges in December, admitting he possessed more than two thousand grams of pure methamphetamine, a stolen Glock 27 .40 handgun,  and 18-thousand dollars in cash, when police executed a search warrant at his his residence.

Currie also had a prior felony conviction for drugs.   

United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger also ordered Currie to serve ten years of supervise release afer his prison term.

The investigation was conducted by the Des Moines Police Department and Mid IowaNarcotics Enforcement Task Force. 

The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
