Jockey Mike Smith Talks Triple Crown with Emery Songer and John Hernandez

It's not every day that you get a chance to talk with someone who could be considered the best in the world at what they do.

I had an opportunity with my friend John Hernandez to interview Mike Smith, the jockey of Justify, the horse who will attempt to be just the 13th winner of the Triple Crown in 100 years. If you don't know John, he is the track handicapper at Prairie Meadows and helps folks with picking the races in central Iowa.

In our interview, we got a chance to chat about the Preakness Stakes from last weekend, as well as the upcoming Belmont Stakes on June 9th, where Justify will attempt to accomplish the rare feat of winning the Triple Crown.

Mike is one of the best jockeys ever, as he's second on the all-time earnings list with over $306 million. He's won two Kentucky Derbies, two Preakness Stakes, two Belmont Stakes, and a record 26 Breeders' Cup races. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2003.

We hope you enjoy our chat with Mike and cheer him on aboard Justify in the Belmont Stakes in a couple of weeks.
