REPORT: Obama Administration Gave Iran Access To US Finances

A draft report from the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations alleges the Obama administration granted a license letting Iran access the United States financial system.

“On Feb. 24, 2016, the Treasury Department issued a specific license to Bank Muscat to authorize the conversion of Iran’s rials to euros through ‘any United States depository institution …,’” the draft report said. “Even after the specific license was issued, U.S. government officials maintained in congressional testimony that Iran would not be granted access to the U.S. financial system.”

Despite the assurance, the report alleges that the administration tried to convince two U.S. banks to execute the conversion.  The banks declined due to the complexity of the transaction.

A former administration official disputes the conclusions of the report.

This seems into the weeds, so why is it significant?  Because a number of conservatives find themselves continually saying to the media:  "NOW you tell us."

Even a tepid supporter of Donald Trump believes that the media is being MUCH harder on a daily basis on Trump than on Obama.  Even former President Clinton thinks so.   President Obama continues to maintain he had a scandal-free administration, though he MAY be kidding.

The liberal media likes to blame Trump for the public's low opinion of the national press currently -  but they continually ignore the controversial behavior of the former administration being revealed AFTER the fact.
