Saturday's rain leaves Sunday streets and homes still flooded

Fourmile Creek still is flooding streets on the northeast side of Des Moines.

Several flooded homes we checked had the residents living elsewhere Sunday-either with relatives or at the evacuation shelters.

According to the National Weather Service Fourmile Creek had a record flood after Saturday night's storms-and the flooding continues.

Several northeast Des Moines streets remained closed Sunday with water from the creek over the streets into nearby houses.  East 37th Street just a block away from the creek was closed as water over the road left several vehicles in water up to the passenger window.

Meanwhile, Clive and Urbandale both announced Sunday afternoon that their streets that were closed in Saturday's aftermath have all been opened.

The boil order issued in the early morning hours in Ankeny when a water main failed has been lifted as well.
