DES MOINES, Iowa-  A motorcyclist was hit and dragged for about 250-feet just before Noon today (Wednesday)  on Fleur Drive.

Police tell Channel 13 WHO-TV a southbound motorcyclist slowed for a crew watering plants in the median on Fleur Drive, between Park and Watrous Avenues,  when he was hit by an SUV.   Police say the SUV went on top of the motorcycle and dragged the motorcyclist.  Officials say the motorcyclist was conscious and speaking with rescuers as the the SUV was lifted off of him, a process that took about 30-minutes.  He was taken to a local hospital.

Police say the SUV driver said there was a mechanical issue with the vehicle that prevented braking and that caused the crash.  Investigators are also looking into whether operator error was a factor.
