Windsor Heights, Iowa Insurance agent convicted of mail fraud

DES MOINES, Iowa-  A Windsor Heights man's been found guilty in Federal Court in Des Moines of seven counts of mail fraud.   The jury also determined his residence and two Harley Davidson motorcycles are subject to forfeiture. 

Fifty-nine-year -old Duane Goodwin was accused of convincing clients to cash out investments and buy insurance products from him, but the cash went into an account  that only he and his spouse could access.  The activity reportedly took place between 2013 and 2016.

U.S. Attorney Marc Krickbaum says Goodwin targeted older, vulnerable victims, and used the money to line his pockets and fund a lavish lifestyle.

 Goodwin faces 20-years, plus a $250-thousand dollar fine for each count.   Sentencing is set for December 19th, 2018.
