Iowa gets some federal aid from President Trump to help with storm recovery

(DES MOINES)--President Trump's approved part of Iowa's request for federal assistance from the recent storms, tornadoes and flash floods.

For the storms and flash flooding that plagued central Iowa, the President approved federal aid to 30 Iowa counties-including Polk, Dallas, Warren and Story counties.  But the approval is basically only to assist goverments and other agencies with fixing public infrastructure damaged from June 6 through July 2.

A request by the state of Iowa for assistance to individuals during that time is still under review.  As is a request for a presidential disaster declaration for Polk and Marshall counties for the storms and tornadoes that hit Bondurant and Marshalltown.
