Iowa State University Police share details of gun scare

AMES, Iowa --  ISU Police have released more details about an incident on the north side of the Iowa State University campus Thursday night.

Police say at approximately 9:40 p.m. they got a report of individuals near the Frederiksen Court residence community, (Building 35) that individuals were carrying weapons, including a rifle and a handgun.

Police confirmed the report and sent an ISU Alert messages at 9:52 p.m.  A second message was sent at 10:20 p.m. with updated information.  An "all clear" message went out at 11:18 p.m.

ISU Police say a witness gave a detailed description of the suspects, who were found by officers.   Officials say the weapons were BB/pellet guns, resembling real firearms. 

No arrests have been made at this time. 

The Ames Police Department assisted ISU Police during this incident.
