Missouri boater charged in Van Meter, Iowan's death

A Missouri man is facing charges in the death of a 20-year-old Van Meter man, who died after a boating accident Memorial Day weekend at Lake of the Ozarks.

Forty-one-year-old Cletus Barsch of St. Joseph, Missouri is charged with Boating While Intoxicated, Resulting in Death.  Barsch is also facing a child endangerment charge.

Missouri authorities say Barsch is accused of driving a boat May 26th, with his daughter on board, when his watercraft hit a boat operated by Timothy Cox of Adel, Iowa.

Alec Potthoff was on Cox's boat and suffered a head injury.  He died last month in Des Moines.

Potthoff graduated from Van Meter High School in 2016 and had been attending the University of Iowa.
