Men stopped on I-35, charged with Mason City lawn mower theft

MASON CITY, Iowa-  Mason City Police say two men, one from Des Moines, the other from Chicago, are accused of stealing two lawn mowers, and using a large moving van as a "getaway" vehicle.    

Police were called about 4:20 this (Monday) morning about a theft at the Mills Fleet Farm.   A Clear Lake Police officer stopped the vehicle on I-35.

Fifty-four-year-old Charles Ross of Des Moines and 44-year-old Calvin Lacey of Chicago are both charged with theft.  Ross is also charged with meth possession.

Police say one of the mowers found, was valued at 17-hundred dollars.  Authorities also found a bolt cutter in the vehicle.
