Woman killed, five injured in southwest Iowa crash

MILLS COUNTY, Iowa- A woman was killed, and five people, including two children, were injured in a southwest Iowa crash early Sunday night.

The Iowa State Patrol says  51-year-old Heather Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska ran a stop sign in Mills County and was broad-sided by a pick-up truck, driven by 34-year-old Ronnie Ling, of Glenwood, Iowa.

A passenger, 33-year-old Iris Gandara of Omaha was killed.  Johnson was injured, and flown to an Omaha hospital.

Fifty-year-old Marvin Elmquist of Sarasota, Florida was injured and flown to an Omaha hospital.  Mariana Neito of Omaha as also injured in the crash.    

Two boys, 10-year-old Austin and six-year-old Adam Ling, of Glenwood, Iowa were also injured.     

The accident  happened just before six o'clock last night at 221st Street and Barrus Road, near Mineola, between Council Bluffs and Glenwood.  The Iowa State Patrol says both the car and the truck ended up in a field.
