Man leads Des Moines Police on chase, crashes in house

DES MOINES, Iowa-  A Des Moines man is hospitalized in critical condition after leading police on a high speed chase Thursday night, that ended when he crashed into a house near NE 14th Street and E. Aurora, where police say he shot himself in the head with a handgun.   

Police say a chase started around 6:30 p.m. when officers tried to stop a vehicle driven by  29-year-old Jakeb Lee Hall, near Ovid Avenue Bowdoin Street.  Police say he refused to stop and led police on a chase, which ended when he crashed the vehicle in a house in the 24-hundred block of East 14th Street. Police say at that point, Hall shot himself.  He taken to Mercy Medical Center. 

Hall's wanted on multiple felony warrants, for burglary, weapons, and illegal drugs. 

Two passengers in Hall's vehicle were not injured.
