Freeze and snow in Iowa into Monday MAPS VIDEO

DES MOINES, Iowa - A blast of winter weather is hitting Iowa into Monday, with a Freeze Warning for the Southwest fourth of the state, including the Des Moines metro area and Ames area (Freeze map above), and a chance of snow in the west, and especially in the Northwest (snow map below).

WHO TV Channel 13 Meteorologist Megan Salois says a cold front is moving in and along that front a band of a rain-snow mix will move through today. Northern Iowa could see some minor accumulations but no accumulation is expected through the Central part of the state.

A Freeze Warning begins at 1 AM Monday and continues through 10 AM. As skies clear, temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight. It could be a killing freeze, so cover up those plants you want to save.
