Iowa gas prices should keep falling for holiday travel

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are just weeks away.  What will it cost to take a road trip this year?

"Prices right now in Iowa are averaging about $2.57 cents a gallon for regular unleaded, and that's down pretty significantly from last week, and down about 30-cent drop from last month."  Beth Mosher with AAA Iowa tells WHO Radio News.

She says prices should keep falling.

"We expect this to continue through the end of the year."  Mosher said.

The rise in gas prices in the late summer was following higher oil prices, but oil prices have stopped going up.

"We're seeing those prices level off, and we expect that to continue.  This low demand is pushing those prices lower and will continue for the rest of the fall and into winter."
