Police are investigating a shooting incident right next to the Iowa Department of Public Safety headquarters at East 7th and Court Streets.
Des Moines police were called around 5:50pm on reports of multiple gunshots in the area. About five minutes later, witnesses reported finding a man who was a victim of those gunshots who was hit in the abdomen.
Police were told the man may have been in a car when a fight broke out and he was shot. The man then either was thrown out of the car or jumped out.
Sgt. Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News the man was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
No names or other information was immediately released. The incident's still being investigated.
