DES MOINES, Iowa - Wintry precipitation will spread over the state this afternoon into tonight, from the Des Moines metro area to the east, and south, with the greatest ice amounts in the east, from the Quad Cities to the south.

Ice amounts near 2/10 of an inch are possible over southeast Iowa, a tenth of an inch or more from Cedar Rapids through Ottumwa. Closer to Des Moines the ice is likely around a tenth of an inch or less.

For north central into northwest Iowa, primarily snow is expected with 1 to 3 inches common, though a few higher amounts over north central Iowa cannot be ruled out.

The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for the Quad Cities area to the south. A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for much of Eastern Iowa.
