I-35 reopened from Ames to Iowa's north border VIDEO

DES MOINES, Iowa - It was nearly 24 hours before all of the stretch of Interstate 35 was reopened Monday after the blizzard.

The Iowa Department of Transportation closed the road at 6:00 Sunday evening after heavy snow and 60+ mile an hour winds created whiteout conditions.

The IDOT's Craig Bargfrede tells WHO Radio News there were six, seven, even eight foot high snow drifts on the 100 mile stretch of interstate that challenged snow plow crews trying to clear the road after the storm.
