WASHINGTON, D.C. - A preliminary table earnings by by the Bureau of Labor Statistics puts Central Iowa at the top of the pay scale in Iowa. Average pay is $54,600 dollars in Polk County in 2018.

Next closest is Linn County, in Eastern Iowa, which includes Cedar Rapids, at $52,416.

Dallas County comes in third in the state at $51,688; followed by Johnson County, Story County, and Muscatine County.

The lowest pay is in Decatur county at nearly 32,500 dollars a year.
