Two teens arrested after armed Des Moines bank holdup and chase

UPDATE 3/12/2019 4:34 p.m. - Police have arrested 19-year-old Chanjuok Obuing Odhung and, following his waiver to adult court, 17-year-old Diamond Deandre Macon II both of Des Moines. Both are charged with first degree robbery and trafficking stolen weapons.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police took two juveniles into custody Tuesday morning at the end of a chase following an armed bank robbery.

Sgt. Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News everything went smoothly for law enforcement to end the situation quickly.

“So the whole thing started with an armed bank robbery about 9:30 at the 13-hundred block of east Euclid Street. Everything fell into place here, this was a great example of community involvement. The bank tellers kept their cool and were able to give us some great information, they complied with the robbers. We had a citizen that actually spotted the suspect vehicle and followed it from a safe distance and gave us play by play, where they were at,” said Parizek.

Police caught up with the suspect vehicle at East 14th and Ovid and began pursuit.

A PIT maneuver in the 2200 block of E. University ended the chase and police were able to take the two suspects into custody.

Police say they recovered cash and a stolen gun.

The names of the juveniles are not being released.
