Emergency hay drops for stranded cattle in Nebraska VIDEO PHOTOS

OMAHA, Nebraska - The National guard is dropping massive hay bales to feed cattle stranded after flooding.

Photos posted by the Nebraska National Guard late Wednesday night show farmland still inundated by water, the farm fields unrecognizable.

WOWT-TV 6 reports the guard used a CH-47 Chinook helicopter from Company B, 2-135th General Support Aviation Battalion, transported several bales of hay, airdropping them to cattle isolated by historic flooding across the state. They also made drops in theRichland area, west of Schuyler.

Operation Prairie Hay Drop was just the latest relief efforts by the Guard, which has been aiding in response efforts in Eastern Nebraska following massive flooding along the state's rivers, beginning March 13. VIDEO BELOW
