Earth Day 2019 @ Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge

Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge will be observing Earth Day on Saturday, April 20, by hosting a volunteer workday. Volunteers will participate in tallgrass prairie and oak savanna reconstruction from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All volunteers will receive a free lunch at noon, provided by the Friends of Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge.

Nancy Corona, Volunteer Coordinator, reports “Each year, the Refuge sponsors this event and invites volunteers from a wide variety of groups to join us for this annual spring cleanup. Volunteers are contributing to our mission at the refuge, to reestablish tallgrass prairie and oak savanna. Come celebrate Earth Day by enjoying the beauty and serenity of the tallgrass prairie. Groups and individuals are welcome to participate.”

If you would like to volunteer, please call 515-994-3400 or email Doreen_vanryswyk@fws.gov. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, April 17.
