ALTOONA, Iowa-- A Des Moines woman is dead after her car hit a bridge pillar on I-80 east of Des Moines. The Iowa State patrol says troopers were called to the crash between Altoona and Mitchellville around 12:30 Thursday afternoon. Troopers say they took calls of Shawna Kachel, 35, driving erratically before veering onto the shoulder, hitting a cable barrier and going into the median--all before hitting the concrete bridge support.The accident is under investigation
