First American Financial Has Had A Mortgage Data Breach- exposed close to a billion digitized mortgage documents containing highly personal information.

This breach of 885-million documents puts at risk bank account numbers and statements, mortgage and tax records, Social Security numbers, wire transaction receipts, and drivers license images. The leaked info dates back to 2003.

All this information could be seen, without authentication, by anyone with a web browser.

First American Financial provides title insurance and other services to the real estate and mortgage industries. They have admitted their error and are working to contain the information.
