Man struck, killed by train in Fort Dodge, Iowa

UPDATE: Fort Dodge Police say the man struck and killed by a train this week has been identified as 30-year-old Bobby Hazelwood of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

FORT DODGE, Iowa- A man was struck and killed by a train at 4:25 a.m. in Fort Dodge. Police say it appears the man had been lying near the traveled portion of the railway, south of Leah Lane in Fort Dodge.

Union Pacific train operators used the emergency brake and tried to alert the man, but their efforts prompted no response.

The railroad contacted police, and medics began treatment at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead shortly after.
