Drake Basketball Player charged in shooting

DES MOINES, Iowa- A Drake University Mens basketball player is facing charges after a shooting incident last month, that sent a 19-year old man in the hospital. Police were called August 31st about an injured person in the 1151 27th Street. There, they found 19-year-old Nate Miller, and were told Miller had fallen and hit his head.

Officers noticed a bullet hole in a wall. Police say another man there, 22-year old Tremell Murphy admitted he had a gun in a nearby bedroom, but insisted Miller had fallen.

Doctors, however, said Miller had been shot. Police say Murphy then admitted he had been handling the gun, and it accidentally fired. Murphy's been charged with False Reports to Law Enforcement and Discharging a gun in City Limits.
