Pleasant Hill, Iowa to name street after long-time public servant

PLEASANT HILL, Iowa- The Pleasant Hill City Council has voted to re-name a street in honor of a long-time public servant.

The eastern portion of Meacham Drive will become Martha L. Miller Drive.

Miller was on the Pleasant Hill's City Council, or served on boards and commissions for 47-years.

“Martha Miller has been an integral advocate for spurring growth in Pleasant Hill,” said Pleasant Hill Mayor, Sara Kurovski. “She held a position on a Pleasant Hill board, commission, or City Council for 47 years, modeling what it means to be a public servant.

Martha Miller served on City Council for 25 years, the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Committee for ten years, and served on the Pleasant Hill Planning and Zoning Commission for eight years.

Miller advocated for the development of the Copper Creek neighborhood. She was also chairperson of the Des Moines Metropolitan Planning Organization for four years.

Street signs bearing the new street name, Martha L Miller Drive, will be installed by the end of September.
