University of Iowa claims band subjected to inappropriate actions Saturday

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Iowa says the Hawkeye Marching Band was subjected to "inappropriate actions" during Saturday's football game against Iowa State in Ames.

Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta released a statement Monday, which did not detail the accusation, but said the school is investigating the claims, and had contacted Iowa State personnel.

Iowa's band, along with the football team, was booed heavily by the Iowa State student section when it entered the stadium before kickoff.

A number of Iowa State fans from the student section ran onto the field during a weather delay before being sent back by security.

Iowa, which is ranked No. 18 in the country, beat Iowa State 18-17 on the road. The game lasted nearly 6 ½ hours after two weather interruptions.
