Three injured in Shelby County, Iowa chain-reaction crash

SHELBY COUNTY, Iowa- Three people are hurt after a chain-reaction crash involving a semi in western Iowa's Shelby County just after 11 o'clock this (Monday) morning.

The Iowa State Patrol says 62-year-old Duane Carroll of Avoca was stopped on Highway 59, waiting to turn left, onto F66 (north of I-80) when his pick-up was rear-ended by an SUV driven by 32-year-old Joel Andersen of Harlen. The Patrol says Andersen's SUV pushed the pick-up into the path of an oncoming semi, which flipped into a ditch. Carroll was flown to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. Andersen, and the driver of the semi, 43-year-old Timothy Ward of Underwood, were taken by ambulance to Harlan Hospital.
