Heat from fire at Ogden grocery store shows up on satellite imagery

OGDEN, Iowa - Flames from a fire that destroyed Odgen's only grocery store were reported to be 50 feet high.

The fire itself was hot enough to show up on National Weather Service satellite imagery.

Five fire departments fought the massive fire at Ogden Mart, which was the town's only full-service grocery store.

There were no injuries, although the building is a total loss after collapsing. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.

A Go-Fund-Me has been set with a goal of $10,000 to help the owner, who purchased the grocery store in January.

Ogden residents will now have to travel 13 miles east Boone, Iowa for full service grocery shopping, although Ogden does have a convenience store.

Ogden is located about 30 miles west of Ames in Central Iowa.
