DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake University and the Des Moines Public School District are working together to build a new sports stadium.
School District spokesman Phil Roeder says the $19.5 million dollar facility will be built on Drake land along Forest Avenue.
He says Des Moines Schools will use the 4,000 seat stadium for high school and middle school football and soccer games. Drake will use it for men's and women's soccer.
Roeder says it will be paid for with $15 million in school district sales tax revenue, and fund raising from Drake.
He says the school district will own the stadium, and Drake will manage it.
Roeder says they want to have the stadium open by the summer of 2021.
