U.S. 6 Near Council Bluffs Gets Green Light For Traffic

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Iowa DOT is reopening U.S. 6 Wednesday.

Drivers will be able to use both eastbound lanes but traffic westbound will be down to one lane. Traffic has been head-to-head since last summer. This segment is part of a two year project to replace the pavement. Asphalt shoulders and other work will be completed this spring.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
