Three People Die on Iowa Roads during Pre-Holiday Weekend

DESMOINES, Iowa - Three people were killed in three separate accidents on Iowa roads over the weekend.

58-year-old Kim Pfantz of State Center died at the scene of a two car crash after driving the wrong way on Highway 30 in Marshalltown at around 8 p.m. Saturday.

The driver of the other vehicle, 36-year-old Allen Dana of Fort Dodge, was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Also Saturday, 40-year-old Scott Street of Creston died after the ATV he was driving collided head-on with a pickup truck on a rural road in Wayne County.

The driver of the truck, 51-year-old Glenn Joens, was taken to a Wayne County Hospital in Corydon with injuries.

And 17-year-old Samantha Long of Creston was killed Sunday after being ejected from the SUV she was driving when it rolled several times in a farm field on a rural road in Adair County.

Also, three people were injured in three separate accidents Sunday in Adair, Jasper and Mitchell counties.

Four people were killed during the 2016 Christmas holiday weekend after a winter snow storm hit the state.

The Iowa State Patrol reports 323 people have died on Iowa roads so far in 2019, four more than all of last year.
