Record warm Christmas - Rain, snow, ice coming to NE IA MAPS

DES MOINES, Iowa - New high temperature records were set in many cities across our area on Christmas Day, just as a new winter storm is building.

New temperature records were set in:

Burlington: 63

Cedar Rapids: 59

Des Moines: 60

Quad Cities: 62

On the western side of Iowa and into Nebraska, Omaha stayed several several degrees below the Christmas Day record of 57.

What's next is the chance of rain, ice, and snow from Nebraska through Iowa, but on the eastern side of Iowa into Illinois, the Quad Cities areais likely to have a warm weekend with rain and thunderstorms on Saturday..
