Iowa Hawkeyes dominate USC Trojans in Holiday Bowl

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Hawkeyes went to San Diego, California and manhandled the University of Southern California Trojans in their own backyard in the Holiday Bowl.

The 49-24 blowout win left no questions as the Hawkeyes picked up their third straight bowl win.

The Iowa play-calling was creative and the big plays abundant as the Hawkeyes set a season high for points scored.

Wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette led the Hawkeyes in big plays with a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown and a 98-yeard kickoff return for another touchdown, all in the first half.

Senior quarterback Nate Stanley went 18 of 27 for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

The Hawkeyes finish the season with a record of 10-3.

The Iowa football helmets were without the Tigerhawk logo in honor of former head coach Hayden Fry, who passed away December 17th.
