Iowa bracing for two rounds of weekend snow

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Winter weather's making a return for the weekend.

The National Weather Service says we'll see snow in Central Iowa by Friday evening.

"We're looking a three to four inches. It's really going to come in two rounds--there's going to be round through Friday evening, then there might be a relative lull Saturday morning before another round comes up through Eastern Iowa Saturday evening and Saturday night" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Andrew Ansorge.

He says Eastern and Southeast Iowa could see quite a bit of snow by the time it's all said and done.

"Generally over six inches of snowfall, maybe even close to 10 inches over far East Central Iowa in a few spots" Ansorge says.

He says the lighter and heavier amounts of snow will fall on either side of a line from Northeast to South Central Iowa.
