DES MOINES, Iowa - Well, now weather's getting real.
The National Weather Service has upped the likely weekend snow totals for much of Iowa, including Des Moines and to the northeast of Des Moines: Marshalltown, Waterloo, and Decorah, and to the south and southeast of Des Moines: Osceola, Lamoni, Ottumwa, and Davenport all looking at 6-8 inches of snow.
A swath of heavier snow runs between those cities, from between Des Moines and Osceola to the northeast, through Cedar Rapids and Dubuque where 8-12 inches of snow is expected.
Other areas are looking at less snow, including Council Bluffs and Omaha, Carroll and Fort Dodge with 3-4 inches of snow; Atlantic and Ames 4-6 inches.
