Two rounds of snow for Iowa by Saturday

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- For the third time in as many weeks, a winter storm is bearing down on Iowa.

The snow will come in two rounds through the end of the week.

"Central Iowa, for this first round, is looking at (snowfall) in the one- to two-inch range through Wednesday night. And then, for the second round Thursday and Friday another two- to -three inches on top of that" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Brooke Hagenhoff.

She says the snow's coming in over the span of three days, which means travel shouldn't be as difficult as it was last week.

"It's going to be more prolonged, so it's not going to be a lot of snow all at once where it piles up fast--that could help keep roads clear and thinks like that" Hagenhoff says.

She says travel may get more difficult in the late night and early morning hours of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as low temperatures cause the re-freezing of slushy snow.
