Victory Vertical Project - Special light-weight pianos sold in WWII

First Gentleman Kevin Reynolds and Dave Piersel of the Terrace Hill Endowment for Musical Arts joined Van and Bonnie in the WHO Radio Studio this morning to talk about a couple of events. Saturday, February 8th at 2PM, the Terrace Hill Piano Competition will be held at the Iowa PBS Maytag Auditorium in Johnston. The public is invited to listen to the extremely talented young pianists who are finalists in this annual competition. Tickets are free to attend, but you should register on the Iowa PBS website. Then on Sunday, February 9th at 3PM, it's "The Victory Vertical Project" at Faith Lutheran Church in Clive. See a presentation by pianist Garik Pedersen about the "Victory Vertical" pianos, a special small, lightweight piano that contained no more than 33 lbs. of metal and were shipped overseas to soldiers in the field. Learn the history behind these pianos as well as hear Steinway Artist, Dr. Garik Pedersen play. Tickets can be purchased at www.victoryvertical.eventbrite.com. Hear the entire interview here...
