FREMONT, Nebraska - The public, Catholic, and Lutheran schools, Midland University, and several businesses are closing for a 14 day quarantine in Fremont, Nebraska after learning a woman with coronavirus attended an event there.

The Fremont YMCA was filled with families and children when the woman attended a Special Olympics Basketball tournament on February 29.

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts announced on Saturday that the Health Department retraced the woman's steps after she returned from a trip to the United Kingdom and discovered she attended the Fremont event. Doctors say the woman was sick for about 12 days before her condition turned more serious and she tested positive for coronavirus.

All players, coaches, staff, and fans who attended the tournament are also being asked to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Fremont is about 40 miles northwest of Omaha.
