Syringe Found On Road In Iowa Town Tests Positive For Meth

Police in the eastern Iowa town of Preston are looking for answers after a citizen found a syringe on the side of the road that tested positive for meth.

Police say just before 4:00 Tuesday, they received a report of a capped syringe next to the road just north of a walking path entrance.

Police say when officers arrived, they found one capped needle off the shoulder of the roadway. They did a field test and it came back positive for methamphetamine.

Officers checked both sides of the road but did not find any other syringes. They're now asking the public to speak up if they see something like this.

"The children and citizens of Preston deserve better than this. This will not be accepted or tolerated," the department said in a Facebook post.
