Murder Suspect Arrested in Marshalltown After Sunday Shooting

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - Marshalltown Police have charged a man with murder after a person with gunshots wounds died at a hospital.

Police responded to a call about a shooting in the 500 block of West Linn Street at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

They found a 27-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he died. A 37-year-old female received minor injuries.

Police arrested 30-year-old Mustafa Muhammad of Marshalltown Sunday and charged him with four felonies, including 1st Degree murder.

The victims names are being withheld until their families are notified.

An investigation is ongoing with the assistance of The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
