Iowa pushing absentee voting in the June primary election

Election Vote Buttons 2020

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The State of Iowa is asking people to vote from home in June's primary election to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate says his office is sending an absentee ballot request form to every active registered voter ahead of the June 2nd primary.

He says request forms will be sent in mid- to late-April and will include prepaid postage for return mailing to county auditors.

Pate says the auditors will begin mailing out ballots on April 23rd.

Iowans can request absentee ballots now through May 22.
